TJ Middlesworth, CFA, CFP®

Vice President
Director of Operations Technology
  • B.A., Finance and Economics, Linfield College
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER

TJ has worked in financial services since 2004. He began his career as an equity research analyst at Pacific Crest Securities in Portland, Oregon, where his team was recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the top-ranked research teams in its category.

TJ joined Baker Boyer in 2011 as Manager of Investor Services and played a central role in developing investment strategies aligned with Baker Boyer’s Wealth Management model. He later served as Chief Investment Officer from 2015 to 2017 before transitioning into technology and operations. Today, as Director of Operations Technology, TJ leads technology operations, data infrastructure, and vendor management for Wealth Management & Trust. His work has included leading the Bank’s transition from a 45-year-old legacy trust accounting platform, from vendor selection through implementation, and serving on Baker Boyer’s Technology and Innovation Steering Committee.

Having spent years on the investment side of the business, TJ brings a practitioner’s perspective to technology. His approach starts with understanding how advisors, trust officers, and operations teams actually work, then finding or building tools that make their jobs easier. His goal is to provide employees with better technology and cleaner data so they can spend less time navigating systems and more time focused on clients.

For TJ, one of the most rewarding parts of his role is seeing a process that once required hours of manual work become something a colleague can complete in minutes, with greater accuracy and confidence. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, the impact reaches clients through more accurate reporting, faster service, and better access to the information advisors need when helping clients make important decisions.

While living in Walla Walla, TJ served on the United Way allocations committee. He now lives in northwest Montana, where he grew up, and recently completed his service with his local high school’s academic foundation. He currently coaches in the high school basketball program and enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors with his wife and three daughters.
