Baker Boyer’s Security Systems Foil Intruder

Walla Walla [updated] – In the early morning hours of Saturday July 30th, an intruder entered the premises of Baker Boyer’s Tri-Cities office in Kennewick. The Bank’s security system immediately alerted the Kennewick Police Department which quickly surrounded the building and the intruder, Justus Raasch, was apprehended while still on the premises.

Bank Management has stated, “To the best of our knowledge at this time, the suspect did not obtain any information.” Baker Boyer is undergoing an extensive investigation and audit to ensure all client information is secure and no identity theft has taken place.

Baker Boyer is working with local authorities as well as the FBI and will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

Baker Boyer would like to thank the Kennewick Police Department for their swift action in apprehending the intruder and their assistance in prosecution for this crime.

Mark Kajita, President and CEO of Baker Boyer said, “We are thankful that this incident happened after hours and no employees or customers were harmed.” He also stated, “Baker Boyer takes security very seriously and is glad our systems did their job. Mr. Raasch has made a terrible mistake and will pay the full price for his actions.”

The Kennewick office is fully functional and the security system remains in full operation. As cleanup from the incident continues, the bank will remain available by phone during regular bank hours and the Kennewick office will open for full service at the earliest possible convenience.

UPDATE: After our extensive investigation and audit Baker Boyer is able to confirm with certainty that no physical or electronic information was infiltrated, deleted, copied, or digitally altered during the recent incident that took place early Saturday morning. Client information has been and remains secure on Baker Boyer secure computer servers and in the Bank’s possession.

After extensive clean up of the branch office due to vandalism, the Tri-Cities Regional Office will be open for normal operations on Tuesday August 2nd.

Baker Boyer is 146 years old and is the oldest independently owned bank in the Pacific Northwest. Its charter as a national bank allows it to service clients throughout the United States and is under federal jurisdiction for any crimes committed against it.
