YMCA receives giant check

Baker Boyer’s program, Legacy Giving, was created in 2016 and is designed to help alleviate some of the costs of building a non-profit organization’s legacy. Legacy Giving is for large-scale projects that positively impact the community Baker Boyer serves and will last five years or longer. This program was created as an opportunity for larger legacies to be built by providing financial support to help kick-start major community projects.

The Walla Walla YMCA is undergoing a multi-stage capital campaign to refurbish and expand many of their facilities. The Harmony Room/Learning Center expansion project will increase the current space by 1,600 square feet for preschool, after-school child care, and summer camp. These programs are essential to serve working families in the Walla Walla Valley. Currently, the Walla Walla YMCA has a waiting list for preschool and after-school childcare.

“We are excited to support the Walla Walla YMCA in the expansion of their facilities so they can better support our community. The services they provide, especially to families and youth, have been a cornerstone in Walla Walla for many years and we are eager to see their legacy grow,” said Mark Kajita, President and CEO of Baker Boyer.

“We appreciate the generous support of the Baker Boyer Legacy Giving Program. We are honored to have Baker Boyer on our donor list, and hope this gift leverages additional corporate support from the Walla Walla community,” said Dondi Cortinas, CEO of the Walla Walla YMCA.

The Walla Walla YMCA is dedicated to the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and is committed to building a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop their fullest potential in spirit, mind, and body.
