Jim Stottlemyre
Financial Advisor and Investment Advisor Representative
“Peer through the fog and decipher the intersecting mega-trends, then trust your instincts when others may not yet see what you are seeing.”
Jim spent 20+ years as a senior manager at the Pacific NW National Laboratory. He quickly learned to first identify a client’s “needs and wants” and then; and only then, design potential solutions. In his second career as a Financial Advisor at Baker Boyer Investor Services, Jim uses powerful financial software to first build a model (a boat) representing a client’s financial goals, dreams and circumstances. This “boat” is then tested against possible future economic scenarios including calm and stormy seas, tranquil lakes and raging rivers. These diagnostics then guide the design and implementation of investment and risk-management solutions.
It is at the intersection of a client’s financial “boat” and the fluctuating waters in which it must sail where experience, creativity and strategic abilities may be effective and financially rewarding. The world is on a fantastic journey with phenomenal opportunities and non-trivial risks. Jim strongly feels that helping people design and implement successful strategies in this dynamic environment is both inspiring and emotionally rewarding. At the national laboratory, he helped large groups of scientists and engineers “skate to where the puck is going to be”. He now does this for individuals, families and small businesses.
Jim holds a Bachelors in Physics and MS and PhD degrees in Geophysics. He focused on energy and environmental sciences at PNNL. Since 2003, he has devoted himself to financial services and insurance. Jim has Series 7 and 66 registrations and life and long-term care insurance licenses. Although he is primarily a fee-based advisor, he can also act as a broker of financial and insurance products. Either way, Jim believes you must “Peer through the fog and decipher the intersecting mega-trends, then trust your instincts when others may not yet see what you are seeing.”
